Music Books for Beginning Band

Help me give my students the gift of music education through the use of method books.

My Students

I teach in a small rural K-12 school where students have very few resources. I have 40 students in my 5-12 band program. Only a couple of the students can afford their own instruments. Most of the students are using school-owned instruments.

We aren't given a budget to work with so we have to fundraise for any purchases or repairs made to the instruments.

Several of the students can play more than one instrument. The students are actively involved in the band program and perform several concerts a year, perform at the home basketball games and participate in the town’s Christmas parade. Music is an essential part of the community, and their education starts in school.

I look forward to going in each day and working with my students. Several of them come in before school or stay after to practice with their instrument.

My Project

I am in need of method books for my beginning band class and middle school band to learn how to play their instruments. The use of these books will give them the strong fundamentals that they need to continue learning through the years to come.

Daily lessons will be reinforced through student practice while using these band method books.

Participation in an instrumental class like band will reinforce skills that the students are using in reading and math. Being a member of band will help the students to achieve in other classes that they take.
