My students need engaging musical manipulatives such as blocks, drums, a gigantic keyboard and read along CDs to fully participate in music class.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Falconer Elementary is a primarily low-income school servicing twelve hundred students PreK-6.
The kindergarten to second grade, cluster classroom is designed for students requiring a significantly modified curriculum with moderate to intensive supports in a separate classroom from general education peers for the majority of the day.
These students also need assistance with adaptive skills. Instruction in the cluster classroom implements quality educational programs and services for students requiring significant supports. While the majority of my students have Autism, some have developmental delays. There is a total of twelve students in the classroom and ten are considered nonverbal. Students in the cluster program in particular, need music class in order to explore various sensory strategies of movement and sound.
My Project
In order to better serve my elementary students, I am in need of hands-on music materials that will engage my kindergarten through second grade students. Many of these students need stimulation and items that capture their attention while enforcing musical concepts. In particular, I would like to purchase a large keyboard mat that students can walk on as it makes sounds. I would also like a Mozart Magic Cube which enforces early identification of orchestral instruments. Both of these items would encourage young students to appreciate music in a variety of ways.
Students in this program tend to need durable instruments and manipulatives, so I would like to provide these for them as they may not verbally communicate, but enjoy making music with their hands and bodies.
