My students love to learn! Being in a Montessori classroom with multiple ages, there are numerous opportunities throughout the day for them to collaborate, problem solve, help, and inspire each other. I am amazed each day at what these children teach me about compassion and understanding. Despite the many different backgrounds they come from and the different abilities they possess, it is a joy to watch them each day as they come together to share ideas and learn from one another. One of my favorite things to witness is the kindness and patience they exhibit when someone needs help and another student steps up to make sure that everyone feels that they are a part of our community.
My Project
From the time of early human beings, music has been a vital tool for artistic and emotional expression and has provided opportunities for community to come together. I am eager to bring music into the classroom to expose the children to different genres of music. The wireless Bose speaker will allow for us to listen to music in the classroom or take it with us on the go. Montessori children have a natural curiosity to learn about those who came before us. They love to know what inspired them and this in turn, inspires the children to tap into their own creativity.
Research has shown that music education has been linked to emotional well-being, higher performance in the areas of math and science and results in a well adapted individual.
Learning to listen to music with with a more critical ear helps boost concentration, self-discipline and listening skills. It aids in the development of memory, emotion and mood. Music can create a calming environment which allows children to achieve a greater focus as well as soothing anxieties.
