Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are special because they're the youngest in the school, but still meet the same high expectations that our school has for excellence in academic and behavior. They are kind, empathetic, and learning to be problem solvers. As a Great Expectations Model School, we strive to build character along with building knowledge of core subjects.
Because we are a Pre-K class, the majority of our learning is done through hands-on projects.
My students are creative, hard-working, and surprise me daily with great ideas and innovative solutions to real-world problems.
My Project
Music is a critical piece of early development in children. We need a speaker in our outdoor classroom, so we can practice our alphabet and number songs while we learn in a fun, nature-based environment. I’m also requesting the warranty for the speaker so that we can use it for as long as possible without having to pay to replace it.
With a speaker in our outdoor classroom, we can expand our learning, playing, and singing beyond the classroom walls and into the outdoors.
We also complete many art projects in Pre-K, so we're always in need of air dry clay. Last year, after learning about Native American pottery, we each made our own pinch pots.
Music and art in Pre-K are solid foundations for successful learning throughout their school careers.
