Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are very special and talented. When they come to music class, they are excited and looking forward to a fun yet challenging musical experience. These students are the most dedicated students I’ve ever had. They take risks, aren’t afraid of trying new things, collaborate, and encourage each other! My students give me the motivation I need to do my best every day. It is because of them that I am a better and stronger teacher today. They’re simply the best!
My Project
I want my music class to be a vital part of a student's literary development. That's why using more children's literature in music class is my primary goal for the next school year. The more I use books in my lessons, the more the kids and I fall in love with them! When we use children's literature, students are actively engaged in the process. From playing melodies on the xylophones to creating sound effects to singing songs, they ALL enjoy it! The best part is that they are learning, their literacy skills are developing, and their vocabulary is growing without noticing it. My ultimate goal is to have a library with a wide variety of books to choose from.
