My Students
The cultural exchange and musical exchange of teaching middle school orchestra in the middle of the hood has been one of the greatest learning experiences of my life. My classroom attracts students who are considered "bad" and students who are considered "good", and their common ground is that each students LOVES learning about music and how to play their instrument!
The lightbulb that goes off when a student is finally able to create a sound out of their string instrument is an undeniable joy for all of us!
Their win and proof of progress gives the confidence boost needed to push them through those tough middle school days.
My Project
If you recognize the items on my list, then you probably had a music education or are raising a young musician. The accesories listed, specifically the rosin, shoulder rests, and strings, are imperitive to any musician, novice to professional. Though the price points for the items are not extravagant, those kind of items add up for students who happen to live in the area where I teach.
Your donation would alleviate the pressure on young students to feel the need to always come up with money for their musical endeavors and allow my classroom to be the fun and exciting place that music and expression lives!
