Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am traveling from one school to another this school year. I serve both schools. I have 20 students in my afternoon classroom for the 2018-2019 school year with a wide range of abilities, needs, and concerns. My students are in a low income/high poverty school in which more than 75% of the students receive free or reduced-price meals. I am in the process of setting up my new classroom and in need of some items. I want to make my new classroom as equipped and exciting to be in as the morning school classroom.
Despite some of the challenges they face in and around their environment, every year my students come to school excited, full of life, and eager to learn.
When children have a strong foundation of learning, they are able to stay on track to remain in school, graduate, and pursue post-secondary education and training to successfully transition into adulthood.
Children make this room their home for however long they stay and miss it dearly when they move on. No matter who enters through my classroom doors, they become part of our school family.
My Project
We want to make our field trip as stress free as possible so that everyone enjoys learning at the Museum of Natural Science. Drawstring bags and printable wristbands will ensure the field trip is well organized.
The printable wristbands will be used for contact information in case a student strays away from the tour group.
(Fingers cross this will never happen!) Name tags can fall off. The wristbands will be fitted and secured to each student's wrist.
The drawstring bags will help students carry their nutritious lunches. This will save us time from having to pass out lunches after a fun time at the museum.
