Help us get frogs for muscle dissection and staining materials to see human cells.

My students are absolutely amazing individuals who unfortunately face so many obstacles every day, even on their way to and from school. My classroom provides not only a safe haven for students, but also a positive learning environment for students. My students are very deserving students who have not the equitable allocation of laboratory resources just because of the neighborhood they come from. They deserve to be successful in challenging science courses and laboratory investigations.
"Success is to be measured not so much by the position that one has reached in life as by the obstacles which he has overcome while trying to succeed." - Booker T. Washington Too many times people overlook or talk negatively about the neighborhood and its high school. The time to for my students to be successful and continue to be successful is now. Please help give my students the frogs, microscope slides, and tools we need to have engaging labs throughout the year. They are our future leaders, scientists, and medical personnel.
The two labs my students need donations for our Muscle and Human Cheek Cells Lab. The human cheek cells lab allows students to practice sterile laboratory techniques learned in class as well as fine tone their microscope use skills. Additionally, the Muscle lab with frog dissections helps students actually see the striations of muscle tissue and make microscope slides of the muscle cells. Help give the hands on education that my students deserve.
With these labs, we will be able to maintain proper lab techniques, gain hands-on experience and real-world experience, practice microscope techniques, and provide the necessary laboratory experience for students in high needs, high poverty neighborhood in Southeast Washington, DC. These are our future medical professionals and leaders. Let's mold the future.
Each laboratory group has a materials manager, a time manager, a focus manager, and a closeout (cleaning) manager. The labs are not only for academics, but also for character building and learning of responsibility for all students. These non-academic skills are absolutely necessary for students to succeed after high school.
My students are well deserving students living in SE Washington DC. Many people overlook our high school due to its location. Yes, our high school is located in a high needs and poverty neighborhood; but that does not mean our students do not deserve the same equitable, meaningful learning experience as all students in DCPS. Please help give my students the specimens and tools we need to have engaging dissection labs throughout the year. They are our future leaders, scientists, and medical professionals
