Help me give my students Nuts about Sorting and Patterning!, Crazy Shapes Magnetic Building Set, and Snap-Dinos, so that they can have fun while building their fine motor skills. These items will help strengthen their muscles.
My class this year is full of wild and zany four year olds.
They are thirsty for knowledge and it’s my job to not only teach them, but also guide them so that they can teach themselves.
Every morning we start our day with a song to help us get focused and ready to learn. I carry that focus throughout the day. We are constantly up, moving, and learning new and exciting things. Pre-K is all about exposure and I make sure that we expose them to as many new things as possible!!
Since we live in a rural community, they don’t always come to school with the pre-readiness skills that they need to be successful students, and they don't have as many advantages as other students their age.
They have not been exposed to daycare and other learning situations. Our Pre-K program is their first exposure towards education and we work hard to make it meaningful to them. Our school is a small Pre-K through 12th grade school with approximately 230 students. The budget cuts to education have really taken a toll on our small school.
My Project
My students need more hands-on activities to help build their fine motor skills. The technology boom has taken away pre-writing activities at home, like coloring and playing with playdoh. So, the students are coming to school lacking more and more fine motor skills. The students need to build strong muscles in their little hands to become successful writers. A child needs fine motor skills in order for their hands to be strong and coordinated. Fine motor skills lay the foundation for writing, sports, games and so much more.
They can build their muscles with enjoyable activities while having fun and learning.
Fine motor skills build and strengthen muscles and coordination. The more they play and explore fine motor activities, the more muscles and strength they build. We want to help build hand-eye coordination, dexterity, and strength to help with pre-writing skills. I need help purchasing activities that will strengthen the students muscles while they are playing and learning from them at the same time. And naturally they will have a great time while doing it!
