This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our school strives to find the leader in all students and what makes them special. Every child has capabilities, talents, and strengths; sometimes, all it takes is exposure or motivation. The athletes who are interested in starting our school's first-ever archery team embody self-motivation, tenacity, and ambition. They are motivated to make a place for students of all body types to feel like they can belong to a sports team and be successful!
The inaugural team consists of 12 amazing athletes waiting on their chance to shine and compete.
Of those 12 student-athletes, only two have prior experience (one of which made it to nationals), but are motivated to teach others and build the team from the ground up! They all have a think win-win attitude and do their personal best to be inclusive of all who are interested in Archery and are seeking a team to be a part of.
My Project
Many students are interested in learning how to shoot archery or continue competing, but just need access to the materials to do so. As a Title I school, we try to keep sports/club costs low so that no child is turned away, Archery is no different. With NASP approved bows starting at $150, many students who could potentially be phenomenal archers are deterred from joining.
With your donation of bows and arrows, you will be giving students the opportunity to get involved in school which has been shown to increase retention and improves grades.
Archery is the perfect sport for anyone who attempts it.
