My students are from a Title I school in the suburbs of Detroit. The Transitional Kindergarten program gives children from all cultures and various incomes an opportunity to learn and thrive within the district before going to kindergarten. My energetic TK students enter the classroom ready to learn, discover, and explore.
They love to read books, draw pictures, use tablets, build structures, and compare, sort, and pretend play throughout the day.
They light up as they proudly identify letters and discover sounds. They love to learn and use their imaginations.
My Project
My Transitional Kindergartners need a morning snack to help them focus until our late lunch. They are the last group of students to eat lunch in our building and often are very hungry by the time lunch rolls around. How can I expect them to stay focused on their tasks when they are hungry?
More than two thirds of my students qualify for free and reduced lunch and they are always asking when it is snack time.
They are hungry before they get to eat their lunch. Goldfish crackers and Rold Gold Pretzels will provide my students with a snack that will allow them to remain focused until they can eat their lunch.
Providing snacks for my students lets them know that they are cared for and allows them to retain their stamina for learning throughout the morning. They are an energetic group who love discovering new things, singing songs, and exploring.
