My Students

I teach students from kindergarten through fourth grade. My students are struggling readers who are determined to continue their literacy growth! I teach in a Title I school which means that my students come from less fortunate backgrounds. There is a mixture of students including mainstream, SPED, and ELLs whom I service. All of my students are so grateful for the hands-on manipulatives that we have (and will be for these new ones that they will receive)!

Students who see me have a goal of eventually "graduating" from my reading intervention services.

To do this, they need considerable growth in the area of reading. Their goal is to increase their sight words, phonics, and other literacy knowledge.

My Project

These materials will service my younger students in grades K-2 to help them have multisensory learning activities. All of these items will allow them to make connections between the letters that we are learning and a concrete object that contains that letter's sound!

We will pass around the objects for students to hold while they brainstorm words that contain the focus letter's sound.

We will also use the items requested to refer to when a student needs a reminder of the sound a particular letter makes so that they can have a concrete object to connect their learning to.
