Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We are a brand new K-5 charter school campus. This new school year, I will be hosting Math Interventions for students in third grade, fourth grade, and fifth grade. Unfortunately, many of my students do not get to experience much outside of their own homes or school environment. I want to bring the experiences to them.
I have found that my students enjoy playing games and reading silly stories.
They also like books with weird or unusual facts and information that they can apply to their own lives or share with their friends.
My Project
To help with students’ understanding of Money concepts, I have included the Match Me (Money) card game, Tub of Coins (play money), Money Math Activities (grades 3-6) book, and the Real World Unexpected Events game.
After searching high and low, I have finally found a FABULOUS square rug that perfectly depicts the multiplication facts chart!
To help with students practice to improve their ability to quickly recall Multiplication facts, I have included three card games: SPLAT!, Zoom, and Math War.
To round out early-learning concepts, I also included games to support telling time and fraction equivalencies.
By accident, I noticed last year that my students LOVE hand-held slide-style puzzles. I found these as a head-to-head challenge game called Square Up. My students will be VERY excited for these!
