My students need iPads! These will be used to differentiate instruction, make learning multifaceted and keep engagement up. These will be used in all subject areas.
I teach 6th - 8th grade Special Education and I am lucky enough to work with the most wonderful group of children. Each child comes with their own set of unique gifts, talents, and strengths. These students learn in both the general education classroom and the special education classroom. During this time, they engage with their peers and work towards meeting their academic and functional goals. During the course of the day, the students take classes such as reading, writing, math, and science, both in the general education classroom and the special education classroom. I also pull many of these students for a social skills group. Each student strives to meet their current goals and the goals that they have made for themselves.
My Project
These tablets will help keep my students engaged and allow them to continue to meet their academic and functional goals. iPads will allow my students to explore different aspects of each subject at their own pace and level.
This will be a fun and engaging way for students to learn and explore, instead of teacher lead instruction.
By having these tablets, it will also allow for my students to practice their skills in technology. In our ever-evolving world of technology, it is vital for this upcoming generation to comfortably access and use the technology. Many of my students are not digital natives like their non-disabled peers, which puts them at a disadvantage once they leave middle school or high school environment.
