My students need light filters to reduce stimuli for my students with seizures and autism, comfortable seating options, and the fidgets to help keep their hands busy.
Sitting still is overrated. Children need to move and the new seating options will give my students to just that.
I have eight special needs students who range in grade level from kindergarten to fifth grade.
Some of my students disabilities include autism, cerebral palsy, speech impairments, developmental delays, and other heath impairments. My school is also a title one, low income school.
My Project
My students will be able to use these items to stimulate their senses to learn in a more efficient way. The light filters will help rid the classroom of the negative stimuli from fluorescent lights that can benefit both children with seizures and autism. The new seating will provide them with comfortable seating choices to benefit their learning experience.
I am a first year teacher in a special education classroom with multiple disabilities.
I have eight students with very different needs and wants. My students will love the new seating choices and the reduced lighting from the light filters. These will especially benefit my students with autism.
