Do you remember the dreaded statement, "go to the board and show us problem #17." You stood at the board and tried to hide the knocking of your knees and the sweat stains under your arm pits. With the latest and greatest technology those sweaty arm pit days are over.
Most of the students that I teach are college and university bound.
The school is in an average to affluent economic area and there is a community expectation of excellence in all areas. A majority of my students have high grade point averages, take honors and advanced placement courses, and participate in various extra curricular activities. They have the potential to enter careers that will make great contributions to society.
My Project
The days of having students wait for others to do a problem at the board would be over. With the Apple TV and accessories that I have asked for, students would be able to share examples of their work instantly and from anywhere in the classroom. They would also have the capability to use their own devices. I would have the opportunity to present information, student work, and real world examples from anywhere in the room. I also believe the technology would provide the opportunity to create a more interactive environment and keep students engaged in learning.
Through the use of the technology that I have asked for, I could create an interactive community of learners that would increase problem solving skills and better prepare students to enter the work force, use technology, and work on teams in varying professions.
