Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have 24 enthusiastic and energetic children who are eager to learn and explore the environment in which they live. They love to keep up with the latest songs and animated learning. In order for me to enhance their education I need to stay up to date with the best current practices in teaching.
My students live in a economically stressed area.
They are limited to the use of computers and field trips. They get one field trip a year and they only have access to the computer lab once a week . Due to limited daily library time, my students visit the school library once every other week for 15 minutes. My students are limited to the view of a vast a natural environment. Our school has a small garden where they can have access to some learning about nature. They are curious about the world of nature but the limited natural resources prevent them from physically exploring and learning more about the world around them.
My Project
My goal is to provide the best educational experiences for my students so that they may be successful in their educational endeavors. the Apple ipad will allow me to access professional development courses that are available from the Apple store. I will also be able to view Common Core Shifts, Close Reading training courses by Timothy Shanahan. This training will allow me to understand the new instructional techniques brought about by Common Core. The ipad will allow me to learn from instructional videos like Discovery United Streaming and YouTube. The professional Development Courses will help me to be a more effective teacher.
The ipad will give me easy access to Google Drive to collect student data.
The information will allow me to plan differentiated instruction for my students. It will also help me grow in the area of technology and learn a variety of educational skills. The skills that I learn will allow me to be a more effective teacher and bring the best educational practices and experiences to my students. As a teacher I feel that an ipad holds a world of knowledge that I may learn and share with my students.
