This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The most energetic and caring students that you will ever meet! For theses sweet students in person schooling is a new and exciting chance to learn not only the education goals set by the state but the social and emotional skills that will prepare them for a bright tomorrow.

My Project

In early education, multicultural& social and emotional learning is crucial. Growing up and learning about similarities and differences in people help shape tiny minds. Learning to be accepting of others and for others to accept us as we are, is what forms a good rounded citizen. Accepting differences in people shows open mindedness and nonjudgemental characteristics in good citizens. For many students it is difficult to find book characters that look and act similar to you.When children are given the materials and opportunities, acceptance of diversity comes naturally. We are all different and unique, this is what makes our world so great.

My first graders started off their education fully online and now as we are returning to in-person learning these kids are being thrown into new situations that can be very overwhelming.

Most students have so much anxiety over the events that have happened in these early years of their life that it is making it difficult for them to function within the public elementary school environment. With that being said, I have noticed that my students are struggling with self-regulation, problem-solving skills, coping strategies, resilience, the tools to handle anxiety, and friendship/social skills within a classroom environment. These kids have missed out on so much learning and are struggling with grade-level content that I don't want them to become more behind by not being offered the tools and support they need in order to become a confident and successful student within their classroom environment.
