Our students come from diverse cultural backgrounds. We are an eclectic mix of English Language learners, bilingual students, various socioeconomic backgrounds, and most recently, refugees. We overcome our obstacles in learning through dialogue and cultural and linguistic respect and understanding.
My students are vibrant and have a thirst and need for knowledge.
Our daily conversations and interactions reinforce our love for learning and growing. I love that my students share their daily lives with me, inside and outside of school. I have gotten to know the many diverse and beautiful cultures of Mexico, Poland, Yemen, Nigeria, and many more. The hugs I receive at the end of each day reinforce that I have tried to give them a great academic experience every single day. They are truly like my own children.
My Project
The Circletime area rug will help gather the students for our morning meeting to discuss our day ahead and work on team building activities. The gathering rug is also where our read alouds and mini lessons take place for reading and writing workshop. Sharing of experiences, making connections, dialogue, stories, and a lot of laughs will take place on this rug.
Flexible seating will make for a more conducive environment of dialogue and teamwork.
The various seating options will help allow students to work in groups or independently as readers and writers in our workshop around the classroom. The seating allows for a practical, casual, and familiar learning environment so our students can tap into their unlimited potential.
The math games will be excellent supplemental activities that will further enhance the basic math skills of our future mathematicians. They are a fun and engaging way to keep math skills fresh in their minds.
