I work in a low-income/high-poverty area and the students in my class are faced with many challenges outside of school. Many of the students, and their families, live around violence on a daily basis. While they are in school, my assistant teacher and I strive to provide a safe and nurturing environment for them to learn in.
In our classroom, we provide the children with the opportunity to activate their senses through educational and social experiences designed to provide them with the learning skills they will need for a strong transition into kindergarten.
Our families are unable to provide help with the items and materials we need in the classroom to create a fun learning environment for our children. Our children are our future and we thank you for your support in helping them along their educational journey.
My Project
The items I am requesting will be used to help teach my students that we are all different and unique in our own ways. These books will be used to improve my online classroom as well as enhance the print-rich classroom I strive to create once my students return to the classroom. With these new books, my students will be able to choose from a variety of books that will allow them to read independently at their own pace.
Every student book that is placed in my library is treated with love and care, and they are thankful for the opportunities to read new stories.
All of these books have been chosen with my students in mind and to help increase their understanding of different cultures. Reading is such an important part in a child's life, not only does it increase their vocabulary and understanding but it also helps to take them away to other places.
