Help me give my students multicultural instruments for collaborative sound stories. I am asking for a quality set of claves, a set of bongos and a gathering drum.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Music is universal! Everyone can appreciate it, everyone can participate. Our students are brilliant musicians with bright futures. Our school is the most economically challenged school in our district with nearly 100% of our children qualifying for free or reduced lunch. There has not been a trained music teacher in the classroom in a few years and there are limited instruments. I want to give these children new, exciting, undamaged instruments to play and enjoy when they return to campus. I want the music room to be like a wonder to them--a place they can't wait to visit each week. Please, help me!
My Project
These materials will be used to allow students to experience music from their own heritage.
I am asking for a set of bongos, a gathering drum and a quality set of claves.
We need these multicultural instruments in our classroom--we currently have none of these.
My students are hungry for opportunities to MAKE music and they need quality instruments to do this. Most of what we have in the room at this time is broken or very old. I want them to have instruments that represent their own heritage. Thank you for helping me!
