This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I am a second-year teacher with an eager group of Kindergarten students. They love art, STEAM activities, math, and being read to. These children come from a low-income community and deserve access to engaging and quality materials both at home during distance learning and in the classroom. We have several Spanish speaking students in our class and a wide range of skills and background knowledge. Anything that could be donated would give these students the leg up they need in their academic careers! Please help them reach their goals!
My Project
These would be wonderful books to add to our classroom library that would represent the demographics of students in my classroom. My students come from diverse backgrounds and these books will make it possible for them to see themselves in literature in a meaningful way. Read alouds are imperative to young learners and provides them with access to a variety of vocabulary, characters, writing styles, and takes them on adventures. The stories I have selected are only a portion of the wonderful picture books that are out there for young learners.
