Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students come from a variety of backgrounds. Many languages are spoken at my school. My 9-10 year olds have a thirst for knowledge and lots of energy. They come to school eager to learn something new each day.
They are really great scholars who want to be at school everyday and they inspire me to give my best to them each day.
I want to make sure I have all the things I need to make each day count.
My Project
My students are very interested in historical events and making those connections to their life. We started with biographies and from there moved to reading about the Civil Rights Movement.
I realized I didn't have enough texts to share with them and I want them to have access to a variety of texts.
My students are curious about history and I want to provide them with enough resources to satisfy their curiosity (or at least fuel it to read more!)
The books I have put on my list will connect to past and future studies in my room. I want the children to have texts and stories that represent the backgrounds of my children.
