Multicultural Books Help Us Celebrate Our Differences

Help me give my students multicultural books to enrich their background knowledge about different cultures and to celebrate their differences.

My Project

I have the pleasure of teaching a diverse group of students who come from all backgrounds. I love celebrating our heritages and cultures. Culture is actually a second grade standard for our social studies curriculum as well.

This project would fund many books that would help my students relate and learn about other people that may share their same cultures and religions as well as teach my other students how people lived.

The book titles include A Bad Case of the Stripes, The Invisible String, The Name Jar, Skin Like Mine, Just Ask Be Different Be Brave Be You, Just Help!: How to Build a Better World, Something Happened in Our Town, Dreamers, Can You Touch Color, Courageous History Makers: 11 Women from Latin America, Opal Lee and What It Means to Be Mean, Mae Among the Stars, Eyes That Speak to the Stars, Eyes That Kiss in the Corners, The Magical Yet, A Little Spot of Emotion, and A Little Spot of Action. These books will help me teach the students how we are all different but still the same and to treat everyone the way you would want to be treated.

I recently had a similar project funded and my students LOVED the books that were donated. That inspired me to get more books so that all of my students have the opportunity to get their hands on these books!
