Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students come from low-income and minority backgrounds. Most students rely on the meals provided at our school. Every student in our school receives free breakfast and lunch. The students I teach have a desire to learn every day. I consistently provide them activities and learning experiences that allow them to move while learning. We have a need to reach our students in ways that make them excited to learn. My heart breaks for these kids. We want to be a positive force in their life, and I do that every day because I love them.
My Project
We need students to understand that we are all different and the same. Students need to understand what it means to accept and celebrate differences in individuals. We need books that teach important multicultural, differences, and acceptance to children.
The change starts will educating students about equity.
We can do this with books. I am asking for quality books that teach the important lessons we need to teach students in society. I have asked for books that teach about racism, people from different ethnic background and people with disabilities. Thank you for any help you can give in supporting this project.
