Mrs. Shelton from Ypsilanti MI is requesting supplies through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students needs art supplies, such as a masterpack of watercolor paints, classpacks of crayons and markers, glue sticks and 3 dozen Sharpie markers, to help them create and learn about art from different countries and different cultures.

Have you ever had a student that comes from a home where they have nothing. They walk into your classroom and their little eyes light up at the sight of the bright colors and the amazing projects you have hung on your board. Their imaginations come alive with all the possibilities!
My students are amazing.
They come from severe poverty and have a wide range of cultural backgrounds. The safest and most secure place for them is school. They enjoy school and many do not want to leave at the end of the day due to their home life. They are kindergarten and first graders. They are sweet and innocent and just beginning their school experience. It is my job to make them successful and feel good about their accomplishments. What a better place than in the art room. They have the opportunity to learn about art from around the world and express themselves through their art work. Imagine their excitement when they take home an awesome creation to share with their families!!!
The crayons, paint, markers and glue will help the students in an unbelievable way. I teach over 600 students and these types of consumable supplies go very quickly. Unfortunately there is little to no funding for the art program at our school. The students will be able to create art work from many different countries and cultures. The students I am teaching come from very diverse backgrounds. I try to teach the students about art from around the world. It is amazing to see the look on a child's face when they hear about their home country and the art that comes from there. The crayons, paint markers and glue will allow the students to explore with a wide variety of media and create amazing work while using critical thinking skills and problem solving to achieve their final project.
This project is very important to me as well as my students.
We do not have any funds for the art program this year and we have been struggling to find supplies for the 600+ kids. The students already come from homes where they have very little. Please help us to provide the supplies for the children so they are able to express their creativity and choose from a wide variety of supplies and mediums. These kids are definitely worth it!!!
