My classroom is made up of sixteen students from all different backgrounds. My classroom has a variety of different learners and my goal in life is to create a fun learning environment for all.
I work in a large school with a very high immigrant population.
Students at my school come from poverty-driven homes. I see a lot of my students come to school with the same clothes each day. They are all needy in their own way. Although they are needy, most of them try to stay positive.
My Project
My students need more books that they can relate to. I am trying to increase the number of my multicultural and diverse books in my classroom.
We also do a community unit at the end of the year and I don't have any books that match to that unit.
I am always trying to find ways to engage my reluctant readers. Including more books that students can connect with will really help their focus.
I know my students will benefit from having these books because I recently ordered some diverse books through school and my students were arguing over who was going to get to read a specific book. Having more books like this will eliminate them arguing. Thank you for your generosity.
