The class I teach is Kindergarten. Currently, I have 23 students in my class, and they come eager to learn at school everyday. Our district is asking for us to have some purposeful play activities for our Kindergarten students. One way to make this work is to purchase a sensory table.
Our school just celebrated 130 years of being in existence!
We are one of the oldest rural schools in Colorado. The students we serve here are about 50% free or reduced lunch and about 30% ELL students.
Playing in some type of a multi sensory item can give children many different benefits such as being soothing for some, entertaining for some, or even enhancing social skills amongst other students.
Having a sand and water table in our classroom will benefit my children by providing sensory development and the ability to also be messy!
These multi sensory tables also give children the ability to learn about physical properties, comparing differences of wet and dry, or even comparing the amount of water or sand which will fit into a variety of containers.
I believe exposing my students to a variety of objects will also enhance the vocabulary and increase their speaking abilities.
