My Students
I teach kindergarten to a group of students who are excited to learn and love being at school. We call ourselves a classroom family and we love to learn from one another. The students are given a voice and know how to use it to express their understanding, concerns, findings, and more.
The best part of kindergarten is that the children do not even realize how much they are learning since they learn through centers and structured play a majority of the day.
My children in kindergarten make so much growth academically, socially, emotionally, in their self skills and more! Kindergarten is a huge year of growth and I am so happy to be a part of it!
My Project
Teaching letters is very tricky. Letters have different names and sounds, there are upper and lowercase, some letters make multiple sounds and we have to write these together to have them make sense! Letters and phonics can be very challenging for young children.
To make letters less abstract and easier to understand using a hands on multi-sensory approach is best.
Allowing students to use letters in a variety of ways such as hunting for letters in a sandbox, creating words with letter dice, tracing letters on sand paper, in paint, on whiteboards, etc. These types of activities allow students to experience letters and phonics skills in a many ways that reach all types of learners.
