My students need Black lights, bubbles for bubble machine, LED light ball, black light tape, massage mat, and a timer to help build our growing sensory room to meet the needs of more students.
I assist with children in the public school system from mild to severely handicapped, who vary in age from 3-14. We have been using sensory equipment to help these children meet their individual sensory needs. As the need for sensory assistance grows not only in our school but nationwide we are needing more resources.
As we are moving forward with helping the identified children, we have seen a steep incline in assisting struggling unidentified children throughout the whole school.
Through teacher referral, we are able to assist with calming activities that may prevent behavior outbreak.
My Project
We are asking for help to make our multi-sensory room a space for children to re-group their over stimulated brain. We will using the black lights with reactive tape and bubbles for the sensory calming area along with he massage mat and LED ball. The timer is needed to provide visual awareness of time using the sensory area. The black light reflective tape will be used for alternative learning from glowing shapes and forms.
Many children are unfortunately overwhelmed with issues we could never imagine a young child would have to go through.
With the situations our children are faced with we are also asking them to learn at a faster rate then expected for their growing brains. This is causing a lot of behavioral issues seen in our schools all over the US. With a place they can "chill-out" or "re-group" we will see better behaviors and academic learning from our children.
