In the last five years, I have created DVD yearbooks for my old school. I thought it would be a great idea to create a DVD yearbook in my new school. Along with the DVD yearbook (which is very affordable to our low-income students), we can also have students produce and create poetry photo books, scientific documentaries, original music, and art portfolios. Thoughts behind the idea: 1. Today's students learn in different ways than previous generations, and so require a different set of learning tools. 2. Students can create poetry photo books, scientific documentaries, original music, art portfolios, and more. 3. Research shows that students learn better and master basic skills in less time when they are engaged in learning. Digital projects are highly motivating for students, and since they can easily be shared, students are inclined to spend more time on task and revise their work to ensure that it's just right. 4. While working on digital projects, students hone important skills such as researching, reading, writing, and speaking. They also build higher order thinking skills, including problem solving, collaboration, and the ability to gather and analyze data. I have been a teacher for nine years. In my experience, students adapt their learning styles to be able to comprehend new ideas and concepts using technology. Realistically, I will be able to reach my entire honors class that contains thirty students. To tell you the truth, my students are very excited that I am writing this proposal to you.
