Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We are a modern rural one-school district surrounded by agricultural land filled with lemon trees. Our families work on these farms and live in the surrounding areas. Our school has a long-standing history and just celebrated our 75th anniversary. When the doors first opened there were just three classrooms with 68 students. Now we have over 625 students in grades kindergarten through eight.
Mesa Tigers are well-rounded scholars in the classroom and athletes on the field.
We provide rigorous academics, intensive support, and cultural experiences in the visual and performing arts for all. We teach students to create, connect, and collaborate for life!
My Project
Because we are a small one school district, we have just begun to participate in the Camarillo Independent Sports League for volleyball. Our Tigers need equipment to train and practice. We want to provide all the necessary tools for these student-athletes to soar.
New volleyballs and gear will help them bump, set, and spike their way to success!
Team sports effects are far reaching and go beyond obvious physical benefits. M.U. School boys and girls volleyball teammates work hard at school and play hard on the court. Studies have shown that when students become engaged athletically, this has a positive effect on their academic performance as well. In addition, team sports such as volleyball foster communication skills, cooperation, friendships, leadership skills, and self-esteem.
