Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
This is my first year as a teacher and I'm at the elementary school which I graduated from! The district is building a dual-immersion program and I'd like to have my own, well-stocked, library of books for my students to access. These kids are a fun group who are excited about learning and discovering new things along with their friends.
My 22 second graders love to read books and I'd love to provide them with a wider range of options than the few books I've got now.
They deserve to have the opportunity to excel and become bilingual - access to books can help keep their love of learning alive!
I want to give them access to kid-favorites and classics in the school's target language.
My Project
With a well-supplied classroom library, my students will feel that they have more options when it comes to reading. My school's current Spanish/bilingual books supply is very limited so I took it upon myself to choose some favorites and classics to have in Spanish or bilingual versions.
Having a plethora of Spanish/bilingual books to choose from will expand my students' possibilities and allow them access to classics and kid-favorites.
Being a first-year teacher is difficult, now imagine not having a well-supplied classroom library in the target-language. You can help me to provide a positive literacy experience for my second graders!
