My students need a heavy-duty pencil sharpener, a money math manipulatives set, a large magnet set of manipulatives to teach with and for the students to use at a center, and sets of math center materials for grade-level operations.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
I teach a 2nd and 3rd grade special education bridge class in a low-income community.
My students are at various levels in math. Their skills range from pre-k to the 3rd grade level. In addition, many of my students have learning disabilities that challenge their ability to master math operation skills. Math games and math manipulatives are essential learning tools for for my students. However, our school is struggling with state-wide budget cuts that limit our ability to purchase some much-needed resources.
The math manipulatives I have requested will allow me to teach to the spatial, visual, logical, and kinesthetic learners in my class. In addition, the math games I have requested are flexible enough to let me differentiate level, and are hands-on which benefit most of my learners. Furthermore, we really need a heavy-duty pencil sharpener - we've already broken two sharpeners this year! All of these materials are durable and will last me for years to come.
You will make it possible for my students to have the materials they need to practice and master essential math skills. Thank you so much in advance for your generosity, and for caring about my students.
