Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are enrolled in a Spanish Immersion Program at a preschool, located in the city of Glendale, California where my students have the opportunity to learn Spanish as a new language or reinforce their home language. My students are of 3-5 years of age who are energetic, loud, fun, curious, and open to learning new things. Our school is located in a very diverse neighborhood and our school family is formed of children of different races, colors, families, and incomes. Although there are many differences, we are a tightly-knit school family.
My Project
Art supplies play an incredibly important role in learning. As a teacher I see my students learn better and are more engaged when they use paper, writing and art tools to print, draw, cut and paint. It reveals growth for learning in and out of the classroom.
Art fosters engagement in the classroom and my students remain focus and calm it encourages creativity, language expression, and learning and helps my students reach developmental and educational goals in a particular learning experience, lesson themes and hands-on activities that support the Creative Curriculum of our classroom.
