I currently teach in a Pre-Kindergarten to fifth grade Title I school in an urban setting. Most of the students are English Language Learners. My school also has numerous classes for students with Special Needs.
The teachers in my school love to decorate our hallways with awesome bulletin boards, in order to display our students' fabulous work.
Our students love seeing and showing off their work. The only sad part is putting up the background paper, which tends to fade and become full of holes and rips during the school year.
My Project
Better Than Paper is a fantastic alternative to regular bulletin board paper. It makes creating bulletin board backdrops quick and easy. Its write-on/wipe off surface can be used to write on again and again. Staples will not leave holes and tape peels off easily with no ripping or tearing. It is lightweight, simple to hang, and will not wrinkle. Border trim, accents, posters, and student work can be attached with ease.
A school filled with the work of children is a delight to be in and sends a message to students that their work and learning are important.
As the year progresses, students can take an increasingly active role in displaying their work. In taking responsibility for displays, students have an opportunity to learn and practice important social and academic skills. Effective displays celebrate each piece of student work and radiate with a sense of student pride.
Your funding of this project will ensure the students in my school will have the ideal environment to display their work. By doing this, they will be provided with an opportunity to learn from each other and to appreciate the work of others, nurturing empathy, respect, and a strong sense of school community.
