Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our favorite chant is: "In our class, we try and try again"! My students come from a high poverty school district where 100% of our students receive free breakfast and lunch. The challenges that face them at home are almost insurmountable.
Curious, excited, and willing to work hard, my students love coming to school!
They thrive in a creative environment where they help set their learning goals and are provided with multiple ways to learn and solve problems. Hard work is rewarded and relationships are built and nourished. My hope is to instill in each student a lifelong love of science through hands-on exploration.
My Project
The most exciting thing you can say to a teacher is "Your supplies are here!" I can't wait to show my students the insect samples. I will use the insect specimens to teach my students about insects that they might not be able to see in their environment.
With your donation, I will foster a lifelong love of science in my students!
I will use the caterpillars to teach about the lifecycle of a butterfly. My students will observe caterpillars as they turn into butterflies. They will feel the excitement of releasing the butterflies into a tent and watching them in their natural habitat as they explore flowers planted by them. Imagine the thrill as butterflies land on them and they feel the proboscis as it tickles their hands! Together we can!
