Mt. Pleasant Makey Makes STEAM Power
Help me give my students Makey Makeys that will open up the world of coding and circuitry through high quality STEAM lessons!
My Students
Our Title I Prek-12th graders attend 3 schools within a few hundred yards of each other to make one big campus of students. They live in a small town in TN but have big ideas about the mark they plan to make on the world!
All students engage in STEAM lessons with a big focus on the Arts and how it is integrally connected to Science, Technology, Engineering and Math.
All three schools are Title I and while this allows federal dollars to meet many of their needs, some of the things we think they need to build strong 21st century job skills are outside of that standard budget.
My Project
Students in grades Prek-12 will utilize Makey Makey's to learn how to use circuitry and coding to enhance Science, Math, ELA, Social Studies, Arts and PE classes.
Imagine students making a drawing that when someone touches it will tell them what famous artist or artwork inspired their own!
Makey Makey allows students the power to imagine and bring to fruition anything they can think of from building a joystick for a video game to devices that will measure fractions to creating Sound Art that conveys what it feels like for them to navigate our shared world!
Students will build valuable 21st Century job skills through coding, designing, experimenting and inventing on their own and as team positioning them to be more successful college and job candidates in the future.
