My students need basic classroom supplies such as watercolor, crayons, tape, scissors, and paper, throughout the year. We are limited in our access to supplies in my school.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Have you ever had to debate whether you would spend your week's pay on food for your children or make sure they have the supplies needed to be successful in school? This is what some of the families of my students face every year.
The school that I teach at services the entire school district in the form of being a Magnet School.
Students are enrolled in classes that will allow them to receive certification in the following various career fields: Cosmetology, Construction, Health, IT, Public Safety and Fire & Rescue as well as, receive the necessary academic classes needed to graduate high school. Our students may come from all over the district but the majority of them come from the surrounding neighborhood which is considered to be "inner city" with lower socioeconomic status incomes. The school population is primarily African American with other Minority groups represented. Our school is considered to be Title 1 which means that 95% or more of our students are on Free and Reduced breakfast as well as lunch. Which for some of the students these are the only meals they get in a day or week. I am fortunate enough to teach 9th grade AP Human Geography and World Geography.
My Project
Every year my students ask me if I have children and every year (so far because I do not have my own) my response is "Yes, 100 of them". I consider my students as family and I try to provide for them as much as I can out of my pocket. The basic supplies that I have listed on my shopping list would ensure that my students are able to have access to the multitude of engaging lessons that I have prepared for them. They deserve the best, please help by donating to my project. My students will be able to see that there are others out in the world who support them and their paths to success like I do. My students will be able to have the basic materials needed so that we can create, imagine, and have the world around us come alive through the various units of study related to who are the people on Earth. Join the support team that is allowing my students to see that they can break the cycle that they live in. They want to be the change they wish to see in world! My students deserve this!
Your donations to my project will provide my students with basic school supplies throughout the year.
My students deserve access to the materials that other schools get on a regular basis without asking for donations. My students are growing into becoming life - long learners and your donation will assist in this being able to continue in my classroom. Please help donate to my project.
