Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students have autism and intellectual disabilities. I have six wonderful students in my classroom in grades 1-5. Our self-contained classrooms work as a team with flexible grouping, so I may have up to 30 students in my room during the day in grades K-5. Many of my students also are living in poverty. They struggle with academics, social skills, communication, transitions, sensory, and changes in their day-to-day lives. My students come to school excited to learn, see their friends and teachers, and have fun!
My Project
The items I am asking for will make my classroom a better learning environment for my students. I am asking for yoga balls so my students have flexible seating options. A lot of students are active in the classroom and having them use the FlexBall seats as chairs will allow them to be active while still being in engaged in the task. The students will also use the TheraBands underneath traditional chairs. I am asking for a lot of different toys to use as reinforcers and to be used for sensory breaks for my students! These toys include light up spinners, play doh, and fidget toys.
