Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
"A person is a person no matter how small."- Dr. Seuss. In our classroom, we treat every child with respect, compassion and provide our students with the best experiences possible to create a love of learning.
I have a total of 32 students 3, 4 and 5 years old in a public school in Chicago, IL.
Many are ESL students. Also, my students are in a blended pre-k classroom, which means half of the children have special needs. My students are hilarious, caring, smart, compassionate and have a love of learning and new experiences. They are the true example of excepting people who they are and embracing each other's differences. I learn my students everyday.
My Project
Incorporating an ipad into the classroom will help all of my students engage and attend with the use of this technology. In addition, with so many apps on the ipad, there are a variety of apps for my ESL students that could be translated in both English and Spanish, therefore making learning experiences in the classroom more successful for them. In addition, having an ipad in the classroom will benefit my students with special needs the most. I have some students who are non verbal that would use particular apps on the ipad to communicate to their teachers and classmates. Some of my students on the autism-spectrum, would greatly benefit from supplementing classroom learning with the ipad to engage and attend for extended periods of time, allowing them to absorb and keep information longer.
In a school district where schools who have many resources are given more and schools who have less continue to the struggle to fight for more resources, it is important that we give children who have less the same opportunities and resources to succeed in school and life.
By donating to this request, you are providing children, whose best part of the day is coming to school, the technology and resources to expand their minds and ideas ,and give them a lifetime love of learning.
