My students are INCREDIBLE. They WANT to be at school. They want to please the teacher. They want to grow and they want to work hard. They want to learn as much as possible. It never ceases to amaze me every day as I stand at the door and greet them.
The majority of my students are from low-income houses.
However, 50% of the students from my school are transfers. The kiddos are hand-chosen for their desire to learn and for parent involvement! Yes, many of my kids come from low-income households, but that does not mean that they are not extremely gifted academically. That does not mean that their parents are not in my classroom weekly and working with them at home. That does not mean that my students are not going to be so, so successful.
I am self-contained and only have 17 kiddos this year, and have already bonded with them so much. They are a dream. I cannot wait to give them everything they deserve.
My Project
After the tornado hit our 100+ year old school in October, we were forced to come to another campus and rebuild everything we had fervently worked towards at the beginning of the school year. My class is now in a portable and it has taken quite a while just to get it moving and grooving even close to what my old room was like.
These things would help my classroom SO much in terms of functionality and feeling like home!
The games are so helpful for indoor recess instead of using technology, and there are items such as the first aid kid and sweeper that I simply need to make our room more like a functional home. I also included lots of items to help organize our large whiteboard and make it much more functional and easy to follow. I also included the write & wipe table spots for my small group table so my kids wouldn't have to tote around their whiteboard when they move through stations. I cannot wait to see the look on my kids' faces when they see all the cool new stuff they get to use!
