Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students come from low-income backgrounds where the school is one of the few places where they have a routine established. With school closures, many of my students are struggling more than ever. Their learning has been affected in drastic ways that I cannot control, nor help fix.
Many of my students are unable to join me during our online learning because they do not have wifi at home, or devices to help them join the internet.
My Project
As we transition to a time of online learning, it has become an incredible learning experience for everyone as we try to teach our students online and for our students to learn online. In first grade, phonics is an essential subject for students, as they are learning to read. Helping my students be successful in this area sets them up for success in future grade levels when text becomes more complex.
Help me teach my students online with a whiteboard easel.
This would allow me to teach my students phonics lessons the same way that I would teach in the classroom. It makes a big difference to students when they are able to keep a routine versus adjusting to new ways of learning, especially for little 6 year olds who are barely learning to grasp school to begin with!
In addition, I'd be able to teach math lessons, writing lessons and anything else that is needed!
