Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach in a bilingual program. I have 18 students and my co-teacher has 15. These students are taught in English and Spanish daily by rotating from my classroom to my co-teachers classroom. These students are kind, caring, respectful and always eager to help each other. Some of my students come into my class only knowing and communicating in Spanish. Most of my students come from low income households and my school is Title 1. They are excited and eager to attend school in person, being that they were taught online for the majority of kindergarten.
My Project
My students are apart of a Title 1 school. Many of the resources provided at school increases their health and wellness not only at school but at home as well. My class in particular is filled with 33 bilingual students whom english is their second language. Gaining these colorful, fun, hands on learning resources will help increase student engagement, classroom moral, and learning.
Due to the COVID 19 pandemic, my students need extra support to increase their fine motor skills after learning using mainly iPads for over a year in their homes.
Being a first year teacher, and knowing the importance of Daily 5, as well as the many other responsibilities of a teacher, planning curriculum can become overwhelming. Receiving these materials will help create stress free, fun, and engaging Daily 5 rotations.
