Help me give my students a safe space to feel their biggest feelings. These big feelings are especially prevalent in high school when their future is on the line.

My Project

I work in a district that is extremely diverse. Each of my 300+ students comes to me with a different set of skills and obstacles. There are students who come from generations of families who have been part of this district forever. But there is also a large amount of students who are refugees, fleeing hardship in other countries, immigrating to our district in search of a better life.

My goal is to create a space where all of my students feel safe to express their needs and voice their concerns.

Depending on the day, I could be using my space to calm a crisis, have deep conversations about the future that is right outside the walls of the school, or working through a mix of emotions that could be extremely tough to process. I want my office to aid in these conversations.

If my students feel physically safe, they will feel emotionally safe and that right there is the ultimate goal in creating this project.
