Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are absolutely amazing! They are so eager to learn and I use their curiosity to guide my instruction. They work collaboratively with structured communication skills so they can agree or disagree with their peers and explain their thinking.
I teach in a low-income area where the neighborhood is going through gentrification.
Although my students' families have experienced some hardships with this change, they are still bright and so engaged in learning.
They are so funny, smart, and kind. They are the reason that I love teaching and the reason I laugh and smile everyday. I want to give them the best learning experience so that they can keep that positive outlook on school and be successful future citizens.
My Project
Ever since I decided to become a teacher I have been constantly searching for anything that I think would enhance my students learning and engagement.
The materials I have requested will facilitate and enhance my students learning in so many ways; mainly they will have accessibility to supplies and learning resources that they would other wise not have access to or afford.
I teach 4th grade and have 2 classes a day with a total of 60 students. I am requesting class set of supplies for my students such as whiteboards, clipboards, and markers, so that they can be actively participating in practice. I often take learning outdoors or have students gather on the carpet, so clipboards and whiteboards are desperately needed so we can go outside and move around the room to enhance learning and engagement!
Since I have two classes each day, the children have to share a desk. One of the most vital things on my list is seat backs. This hangs on the back of a students chair and holds their materials so that the students can share a desk without getting their books and materials mixed up. Children need to have their own space for their belongings so they feel comfortable to learn. It creates a safe and organized learning environment.
Lastly, one of the huge requested items are the math games and learning tools, including the number lines, math books, games, and bingo. These are all fun and engaging materials that will enhance mathematical understanding either during lessons or stations. These games would be so beneficial to these students who would otherwise not be able to use these wonderful resources. They make learning fun and engaging. My class deserves the best and is so thankful for any donation you can offer!
