I have a class of 23 (and sometimes 25) third grade students. All of my students have various learning styles and needs. I have a group of students who have Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) who require supplemental support and accommodations to ensure their success in the classroom. I have several students who have Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, as well as students with Dyslexia, learning disabilities and students who are gifted.
My students have shown that they benefit greatly from movement while working.
My students rarely sit at their desks and enjoy the option to sit around the room. My students who benefit from moving show that they are better able to focus and complete tasks when they don't "have to stay seated" in one specific place.
My Project
My students will be able to move freely around the room and sit, kneel, stand, or even bounce to meet their individual learning preferences!
These materials will help improve my students' ability to focus and thrive in a classroom environment that accommodates a multitude of learning styles and needs.
The bouncy balls and chairs will help students who need consistent movement during small group lessons and independent work time. The kneeling pads will benefit those who enjoy sitting on the floor rather than in a chair. The seat pads will benefit those who thrive from sensory stimulation, including my students with ADHD and Autism. All of the materials will help improve the learning in our classroom.
