This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
As a Special Education teacher, I go to work with some of the greatest students in the world. They come to school eager and ready to learn.
I teach students in grades kindergarten through fifth grade.
The students I teach are special needs students that suffer from Intellectual Disabilities, Learning Disabilities, Dyslexia, ADHD, and so forth. We come together to form a diverse population of all different cultures. The school however is in a high poverty area, and is lacking many materials to make learning more interesting for these students.
My Project
I pull special needs students from through out the school to help assist them in mastering lessons that they are struggling with. I want to set up centers around my room that students can use in a fun way to learn objectives that are otherwise too hard for them. This way they can feel comfortable with learning from each other as they learn in groups, or self directed learning with serving as a monitor. I have requested a English Language Learner Games Library and a Third Grade Bundle with activities for my students working at a higher level.
These donations will improve my classroom by allowing me to work closer with students that are having a hard time mastering objectives, while others are engaged in meaningful activities.
