My Students
I have the opportunity to teach 13 amazing 8th-grade students who have a variety of disabilities at a Chicago Public School in the Little Village neighborhood. The majority of the students who attend our school receive free or reduced lunch, coming from low-income families. My students are dedicated learners who I want to continue to foster a love of learning!
We are so close to becoming high schoolers, but there are still many important skills that we need to master in 8th grade to make sure we start off our first day of high school on the right foot.
We are hoping to receive valuable classroom supplies to end the school year strong!
My Project
Even though my students learn differently than their peers, it is important that they continue to make growth. In my math class, I emphasize the importance of continuing to learn 8th-grade level skills as well as develop other skills to fill in any "gaps" the students may have.
Math manipulatives are a great way for my visual learners to better grasp difficult math concepts!
All of the students in my classroom also have individual goals they work on each quarter. With the help of a binding machine, I can make individual benchmark assessment booklets for the students to practice their IEP goals in a convenient way.
My students are almost high schoolers! We have one more quarter left, and it is essential we end school on a high note, so they are THAT much more prepared the first day of high school.
