This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are the pride of the Northside! The majority of my students come from low income households, making it difficult to ensure that they have access to necessary supplies. I know that my students are hard workers and consistently exude such positive energy both in and out of the classroom. It is important to me to provide my students with the best start possible during my first year of teaching. Every student deserves access to a safe, clean, and welcoming classroom! I look forward to every day with these 100 students who will inevitably teach me more about myself and the world than I could expect.
Even though I have yet to meet my students, I know that each one of them are future world changers.
My Project
I believe that ALL of my students deserve an equal opportunity to learn- not having a pencil or paper should not be a barrier to that knowledge. These supplies will allow both my students and I to develop a classroom that supports their development and learning. I have included cushions for a reading nook, writing supplies, and other items that I foresee a need for. Individual folders will allow each student a specific place to store their work in my classroom.
Even though this is only the beginning, any contribution to my classroom is monumental!
